Statement of Beliefs

What We Believe

Doctrine Of God

We believe that God exists in three persons—Father, Son, and Spirit.

The three distinct persons carry out specific functions, where the Father initiates salvation, the Son works out salvation, and the Spirit is the seal of salvation (Ephesians 1:5-13), yet they are still one in nature.

Christology

We believe that Jesus Christ is the physical incarnation of the second person of the Trinity (Phil 2:5-8; John 1:14).

We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man.

We believe that by His perfect obedience to God (Rom 5:18-19) and by His suffering and death as the immaculate Lamb of God, Jesus Christ obtained forgiveness of sins (Col 1:14) and the gift of perfect righteousness for all who trusted in God prior to the cross and all who would trust in Christ thereafter (Phil 3:9).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, eternally existing in perfect relationship with the Father and the Son as one person in the Trinity (Gen 1:26, Matt 20:19).

Bible

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the infallible Word of God, verbally inspired by God, (2 Tim. 3:16) and without error (Num. 23:19) in the original manuscripts.

Creation and Man

We believe that God created the universe, and everything in it, out of nothing, (Gen 1:1; John 1:1-3) by the Word of His power. Having no deficiency in Himself, nor moved by any incompleteness in His joyful  self-sufficiency, God was pleased in creation to display His glory for the everlasting joy of the redeemed, from every tribe and tongue and people and nation (Rev 5:9)

Sin

We believe that, although God created man morally upright, he was led astray from God’s Word and wisdom by the subtlety of Satan’s deceit, and chose to take what was forbidden (Gen 2:17), and thus declare his independence from, distrust for, and disobedience toward his all-good and gracious Creator. Thus, our first parents, by this sin, fell from their original innocence and communion with God (Gen 3:7-8)

Salvation

We believe that through Christ’s completed work on Calvary, through His substitutionary death (Rom 3:25), man was reconciled to God through the death of His Son of Jesus Christ (Rom 5:10)—for the praise of His glorious grace (Eph 1:6).

The Church

We believe the church is the culmination of all believers united as a spiritual body (1 Cor 12:12), called the bride of Christ (2 Cor 11:2).

We believe the purpose of the church is to glorify God by building itself in faith and by advancing the gospel to the entire world (Matt 28:18-20).

Death, Resurrection, and the Coming of Jesus

We believe that when Christians die they are made perfect in holiness, are received into paradise, and are taken consciously into the presence of Christ, which is more glorious and more satisfying than any experience on earth (Heb. 12:22-23)
